The vibe of the week is Duran Duran's Rio. Very under-appreciated musicianship in what was considered just a "pretty boy" band. A little frenetic for a Sunday Drive, but it kinda fits the week I've had. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Adding years to life, and life to years. [T]he McKinsey Health Institute (MHI) believes that over the next decade humanity could add as many as 45 billion extra years of higher-quality life—roughly six years per person on average, and substantially more in some countries and populations.

The Genesis Machine. The next frontier in technology is inside our own bodies. Synthetic biology will revolutionize how we define family, how we identify disease and treat aging, where we make our homes, and how we nourish ourselves. This fast-growing field—which uses computers to modify or rewrite genetic code—has created revolutionary, groundbreaking solutions such as the mRNA COVID vaccines, IVF, and lab-grown hamburger that tastes like the real thing.  It gives us options to deal with existential threats: climate change, food insecurity, and access to fuel. [Disclaimer: I have only read reviews, but not the book yet. It looks super interesting and is in my reading queue.]

It sure appears that we're not getting our money's worth compared to other countries in the developed world. This needs to change. 🤔

What I'm Working On.

I'm working to finalize some of the back office plumbing required for me to publicly launch my new firm at the end of the month. Along with that, I'm in the process of onboarding my first, incredibly patient, clients. I can't wait until the "unveiling".

As an assignment for the writing class I've been taking, I'm working on a piece entitled "The Mother of All Asset Shifts". It discusses what I believe is the coming revaluation of human capital vis-a-vis returns on financial capital and will serve as a key part of the case I hope to make for the Human Enterprise™.
